What We Stand For

Farming worldwide has become way too intensive… and we reckon too many animals being farmed these days have sad, sad lives. We want to change that.
It’s not always the farmers fault… it’s really ours as the people who buy the food.
We can change how animals are farmed by asking the ‘hard questions’ and then only buying food we feel right about.

Gardens to ‘peck about’ in with your mates.

Just in case the nice pictures of our farms haven’t made it crystal clear… this is how it works…
On a Freedom Farm all the mums live in open fields and have their own straw lined shelter. Mum gives birth in this shelter and her piglets stay with her in this field until they are weaned.
After leaving mum the piggies are then raised in our deep straw shelters, with tons of room to hoon around in the sunshine and fresh air, lots of straw and sawdust to snooze in and 24-hour access to food and water. All the things a pig needs to live a happy life… while managing icky unintended consequences for the environment… by soaking up all the manure in straw to make super-duper compost. That’s it… no exceptions.
And that’s why we say… NO sow crates, NO farrowing crates and NO concrete fattening pens.
For heaps more on everything we do and stand for…

On a Freedom Farm there is a big shed in a huge field. The girls spend the night in the shed and lay their eggs in the nesting area in here. Each morning the door is opened and the girls go out to play. Of course if its cold and windy they can come back in anytime they like. They have heaps and heaps of open grassy space and lots of shade and shelter.
