At Freedom Farms we reckon celebration eating is a pretty big deal… and nothing says celebration like a plump roast turkey with all the trimmings.
But what makes your turkey even more special is knowing that it was raised the Freedom way… with gardens to play in, trees to snooze under and bugs to eat. The turkeys probably like that idea too.

Making a really special turkey isn’t real hard. First you have to start with happy birds… and be sure they’re farmed here in NZ the Freedom way… on farms that let them outside to peck about in the garden.
Then it’s about flavour and texture. We reckon a diet of grains… and all the bugs and worms they can forage… goes a long way.
And then its up to you… get your A-grade turkey game on and impress your friends and whānau!

GET YOUR TURKEY A-GAME ON…
- Give yourself plenty of time for the turkey to defrost…
We reckon 2 days in the fridge for a small bird, and 3 days for a big one.
- Fire up the oven… then turn it down a bit…
Crispy skin is ace… but cook your bird slow and steady, then crank it up for the last 10 mins to get that skin toasty.
- Let it rest…
Remember to allow 15-20 minutes for the turkey to mellow before you carve and serve it.
- Use a meat thermometer…
You’re aiming for 84°C… remember to probe the thickest, meatiest bits.
- Don’t skip the gravy!
Turkey pan drippings are liquid gold… put these magical bits to work and use them as a base for your gravy!
