First you start with Happy Piggies.
This means piggies that have been farmed here in NZ the ‘freedom way”… without crates, cages or those concrete fattening pens.
And then there’s the curing…
For us it’s about letting the taste of our special pork shine through. We are proud of it and want you to enjoy the taste of it.
It’s about keeping the curing process simple, adding a wee bit of NZ honey and always using a natural wood smoke.
But the real important thing is we reckon a ham shouldn’t bounce if you drop it. Sure we could make it cheaper if we pumped it up with heaps of water… but who wants that?
Not real hard is it?

FINDING XMAS HAM!
Start with the places that usually stock Freedom Farms products…
At Christmas time you can usually find our hams at all the places you can usually find Freedom Farms products. If you can’t see one in the chiller, head to the butchery counter and ask if they are stocking them and when you might be able to pick one up?
If you’re really stuck, you can email Gregor (don’t forget to tell him where you are!) and he’ll let you know which local grocers has a ham waiting for you…
WHAT’S UP WITH ALL THE CHEAP HAMS OUT THERE?
…Sadly more and more ham sold these days is made from frozen imported pork. You never know where it has come from or how it has been farmed (but I bet you could guess?)
Then it’s pumped up with lots of water to increase the weight… hmmmm?
We say Christmas is way too special to waste with a dodgy ham.
