Champagne Ham
... about this ham...
- Made from our SPCA certified NZ free-farmed pork (so we can guarantee it hasn't been raised with growth hormones... or kept in cages, crates or those concrete pens)
- Smoked with real wood smoke (not chemical smoke flavoured)
- Pre cooked... so it's ready to eat as fast as you can get the wrapping off... but please go to the trouble of glazing it... It is worth it.
- This ham has been made from the leg... with all the bone removed except the hock.
- This means it's real easy to carve... without all that fiddling about working around the bone. This is the ham you find pre carved in good deli's.
- Because it has had the bone removed it was then massaged and reshaped to get it looking like a leg again... so people often say it has a slightly different texture than "bone in ham"
- Don't forget to save the hock for your soup... stick it in the freezer until it gets to be soup weather again.
